Akashimi is a story. It is the equivalent of a fairy tale in western culture. My grandmother used to say "pali akantu" (which directly translates to there was a thing), and we would respond "kai ikele nga ifi twi ikele" (it sat in the same way we are sitting) and then grandmother would start, "pali.." (there was... and begin introducing the characters to her story)
